-
Designed for harsh environment
The Stato-Sonde Z3 is a hot metal detector used for the detection of product with temperature over 400 °C / 750 °F.
It has been designed to operate in industries such as steel mills and foundries.
Presented in a resistant case, it is designed for use in the severe conditions of the steel industry. It includes a protective hood with air purging and an optional cooling jacket.
Working Principle
The infrared radiation of the hot stock is focused by a lens and then collected by a photo-electric cell. When the energy level is over the adjusted level the output of the Stato-Sonde Z3 detector is switched on.
Special Features:
-
Optical field : 15° vertical and 4° horizontal adjustable with a shutter at the front side of the protective hood.
-
High current static output, relay output or opto solid state relay.
-
External sensitivity adjustment (located under the cover at the back side of the apparatus).
-
TEST function to simulate hot product, from the control room (built in lamp for simulation).
-
Multicolour LED indicator.
-
Optional connector and silicone cable with protective steel braid (Z3 - C - ).
-
Frontal hood that can be hinged down to easily clean the sensor lens. This protective hood is equipped with an inlet for compressed air, to keep out dust.
-
A cooling plate is available, with a water flow rate of 2 I/mn, for use when ambient temperature is over75 °C / 170 °F.
-
Modular construction, allowing rapid maintenance.

Loop Scanner 250: LOGIKA
Our offered high resolution Loop Scanner 250 is a vital component to maintain roll speed in billet to bar/re-bar/wire rod mills/profile mills where any tension between rolling stands must be avoided. Our loop scanner can be used for vertical or horizontals loops and provides a high resolution output signal to help maintain optimal rolling speeds. This Loop Scanner can be employed with target temperatures as low as 250°C with no upper limit.

Self-monitoring and alarm functions
Features
This type of sensor measures the position of a hot product (steel, copper, brass, alloys, etc.) within its field of view and provides an output which is proportional to the angular position of the product within that field.
The Rota-Sonde TS2006 is a scanning measuring sensor, sensitive to infrared radiation emitted by hot products with temperature as low as 250 °C (480 °F).
Main Features:
-
High sensitivity : 400 °C / 750 °F or 250 °C / 480 °F.
-
Infrared spectrum : 1 to 3 µm.
-
Digitally controlled with self diagnostic functions.
-
No optical adjustment.
-
Easy commissioning.
-
Optoelectronic circuit enclosed in a heavy duty housing (IP66), designed to work in the harsh environment of the steel industry.
-
Air purging and water cooling.
-
Connector and cable with metallic protective braid.
Sensor Features
1. Mechanical Features
-
Adjustable mounting stand.
-
Cooling plate with stainless steel pipe to permit use of industrial cooling water. This cooling plate is independent of the sensor body and includes all connections (air and water). This configuration permits quick substitution of the sensor without disconnection of the cooling water or purging air and also eliminates the need for the realignment of the sensor.
-
Hinged protective hood to permit easy cleaning of the window glass of the sensor.
-
Easy adjustment by use of the viewing port located at the back of the sensor.
2. Electronic Features
-
The photocell is sensitive to infrared radiation and is optimized for detection even at low temperature and in the presence of steam.
-
All electronics are mounted on a plug-in PC board.
-
Control panel beneath hinged cover at rear, including through viewing port, test push-button for product simulation, potentiometer for sensitivity adjustment and product presence LED.
- Automatic monitoring system with the following features :
- Diagnostic alarm circuit to monitor the sensitivity of the sensor and to indicate the need for the operator to clean the window glass or to increase the sensitivity.
- Diagnostic alarm circuit to monitor the internal temperature of the sensor and to indicate any fault in the cooling system.
- Monitoring of the scanning motor speed.
- Indication of power supply fault.
